Abstract:

Abstract: Human maxillary first molars are usually considered as three-rooted teeth with four root canals for the presence of a second canal in the Mesio Buccal root (MB2). In addition, lateral ramifications and apical delta of the root canal system may frequently occur, increasing the probability of leaving untreated spaces after the root canal therapy. A thorough knowledge of root canal morphology and good anticipation of their possible morphological variations may help to prevent iatrogenic errors and ensure success. The importance of the knowledge of the anatomy of root canals cannot be overemphasized. Unusual root and root canal morphologies associated with maxillary molars have been reported in several studies, in the literature. This clinical report presents a permanent maxillary first molar with an unusual morphology of two roots with two canals.

Maxillary Molar with Two Palatal Canals Type I: Case Report

This study aimed to describe a case report of endodontic treatment of a maxillary first molar with two roots and two palatal canals type I. The patient was referred to the Federal University of Pernambuco for endodontic treatment in left maxillary first permanent molar. After the clinical, physical and radiographic examination, the diagnosis was irreversible pulpitis. Radiographic examination s...

Root Canal Treatment of a Maxillary Second Molar with Two Palatal Canals: a Case Report

Careful understanding of internal anatomy of root canal system is crucial for successful endodontic treatment. The presence of two palatal canals in maxillary second molar is unusual but noteworthy as an aid to appropriate diagnosis and treatment. This paper reported a case of a maxillary right second molar with two root canals in the palatal root. The root canal treatment and case management w...

Nonsurgical Endodontic Retreatment of Maxillary Second Molar with Two Palatal Root Canals: A Case Report

Successful endodontic treatment requires thorough knowledge regarding each root canal system of any tooth and probability of extra canals should be considered. Second maxillary molar with two palatal root canals is not frequent and its incidence reported in literatures is about 0.4-2%. The present case report describes non-surgical retreatment of maxillary second mo-lar with two palatal root ca...

Endodontic Management of a Maxillary First Molar with Two Palatal Canals and a Single Buccal Canal: A Case Report

Thorough knowledge of root canal morphology is essential for the endodontic therapy. There are rare variations in canal number and configuration in maxillary molars, which could affect treatment outcome. This paper presents the endodontic management of a maxillary first molar with two palatal canals in one root (Vertucci type IV) and a single buccal canal. In this paper cone-beam computed tomog...

A Maxillary Second Molar with Two Separate Palatal Roots: A Case Report

Variations of dental root canals were reported by different authors. One of the rare variations is the presence of two separate palatal roots of maxillary molars, especially second maxillary molars. This case study reported a maxillary second molar with two separate palatal roots and a palatal bifurcation which was found during the periodontal flap surgery. Although these variations are rare, a...
